| Summary, etc. | Cet article compare les trajectoires des anciens combattants d’Afghanistan dans deux pays de l’ex-URSS : la Moldavie et la Lituanie. Il repose sur une enquête qualitative centrée sur les récits de vie, visant à rendre compte de la diversité des parcours combattants. On interrogera la place des vétérans d’Afghanistan dans des sociétés qui ont un socle commun par leur passé soviétique mais ont suivi des dynamiques très différentes après la chute de l’URSS. L’article explore l’évolution du statut matériel et symbolique de cette population dans le contexte des nouveaux États post-soviétiques. Au-delà de la quête de reconnaissance que tout vétéran est en droit d’attendre de celui qui l’a envoyé à la guerre, c’est à la mobilisation des afgancy pour la reconnaissance de leur statut juridique, de leurs droits et de leurs avantages sociaux dans un contexte changeant et porteur ou non de nouvelles opportunités que nous nous intéressons. Nous interrogeons les moyens que les vétérans mettent en œuvre pour mobiliser des soutiens dans leur quête d’une plus juste redistribution. L’analyse porte aussi sur le rapport des vétérans à l’État. |

| Summary, etc. | To compare the diversity of the trajectories of Afghan veterans in Moldova and Lithuania, two countries of the former Soviet Union, this article uses the results of a qualitative survey centered on life narratives. What place do these veterans of the Soviet war in Afghanistan have in these two societies, which share a Soviet past but have had quite different experiences after the collapse of the USSR? The evolution of these veterans’ material and symbolic status in the new states is explored. Beyond the quest for recognition that every veteran has the right to expect from those who sent them to war, attention is paid to the mobilization of these veterans to obtain recognition of their legal status, rights and social benefits in a context that might, or might not, bring new opportunities. What means have these veterans used to mobilize support in their quest for a fair redistribution? |
