| Summary, etc. | Dans le monde médiatique russe, opposer les médias loyaux au pouvoir et les titres protestataires durcit les clivages existant au sein de la communauté journalistique. Une enquête de terrain auprès d’un média d’information générale à Saint-Pétersbourg permet d’interroger cette opposition pour montrer les compromis plus ordinaires qui s’élaborent dans les rédactions au milieu des années 2010. À partir de l’observation des discussions en conférence de rédaction, l’article montre des délibérations subtiles entre les journalistes qui aboutissent à la publication d’articles qui ne sont ni une commande de la propagande gouvernementale, ni des textes d’opinion oppositionnels. Ils se situent dans un entre-deux, un compromis fondé sur un jeu contrastif sur des lieux communs partagés. À l’issue du processus délibératif, les articles parus donnent un exemple de l’équilibre délicat qui peut se nouer dans le traitement de l’actualité dans la Russie du milieu des années 2010. Ce compromis reste cependant dans l’implicite de la connivence interprétative sans faire l’objet d’une justification d’ordre général du projet politique qu’il propose. Cette observation permet d’enrichir les travaux portant sur la domination politique exercée sur les médias russes, d’un côté, et sur la critique journalistique d’opposition, de l’autre. Elle offre à la sociologie du journalisme de nouvelles clés de compréhension du métier dans des contextes politiques contraignants. |

| Summary, etc. | In the Russian mass media, the difference between the media loyal to the powers-that-be and the press that protests has deepened the cleavage between journalists. Fieldwork with a generalist news website in Saint Petersburg focused on this difference in order to bring to light the ordinary compromises worked out by the editorial staff. Observations of editorial board meetings shed light on the subtle exchanges among journalists that led to the decision to post an article. Posted articles corresponded neither to orders from government propaganda nor to the opinions of the opposition: they were in-between, a compromise based on a contrast of shared commonplaces. Coming out of this process of deliberation, the published articles were evidence of the fine balance that could be achieved in the handling of news in Russia in mid-2010. This compromise was based on an unspoken mutual interpretation that did not call for a general justification of the implied political agenda. This study contributes to work on the domination of politics over the Russian media and on the critique of journalistic opposition. For the sociology of journalism, it proposes new keys to understanding journalism in less-than-free political contexts. |
