| Summary, etc. | Dans le but de faire face à la hausse des dépenses de médicaments qui ont de lourdes conséquences sur l’équilibre budgétaire des organismes de protection sociale, de nouveaux systèmes de régulation du marché pharmaceutique, comme le prix de référence, ont été mis en place. Ce mécanisme établit un niveau maximum de remboursement pour un groupe de médicaments. En utilisant un modèle de différenciation verticale nous montrons que la mise en place d’une telle politique permet effectivement de réduire le prix des médicaments. Toutefois, l’impact concernant les dépenses publiques de médicaments reste difficile à établir. |

| Summary, etc. | The reference pricing : impact in the pharmaceutical market Increases in national pharmaceutical spending have led governments to adopt new measures aimed at promoting price competition. One such approach to regulate the pharmaceutical market is reference pricing. A reference price system categorises products into groups so that the reference price is the maximum reimbursement of the third party payer for all products in that group. Using a vertical product differentiation model, we deduce that the reference price system can generate a drug price cut. However the impact on public expenditures is uncertain. |
