| Summary, etc. | L’objet de cet article est d’étudier l’impact des émotions sur les dons que font les individus en faveur d’associations pour l’environnement, et de voir dans quelle mesure les émotions peuvent renforcer (ou non) les motivations intrinsèques des individus. Par l’intermédiaire d’une méthode d’induction d’émotions en laboratoire suivie d’un jeu du dictateur nous montrons, en accord avec la théorie fonctionnelle des émotions développée en psychologie, que des émotions de même valence mais de type différent ( e.g., « Emerveillement », « Amusement ») peuvent avoir des effets distincts et opposés sur les comportements pro-environnementaux des agents, soit dans le cas présent sur la générosité des individus. Nous montrons également que l’émotion « Emerveillement » joue un rôle significatif en renforçant le niveau de contribution des individus mus par des motivations intrinsèques. |

| Summary, etc. | Emotion Induction and Pro-Environmental Behavior in a Dictator Game The aim of the paper is to study the impact of emotions on monetary donation to pro-environmental causes and more precisely whether emotions could reinforce intrinsic motivations. We design a three-stage laboratory experiment. Firstly, participants have the possibility to get an endowment from an effort game. Secondly, emotions are induced to the participants. Thirdly, participants play a dictator game where the recipient is an environmental Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). In line with the functional theory in psychology, we show that two positive emotions with similar valence but of different sort (“Amusement” and “Awe”) impact significantly pro-environmental behavior in opposite ways regarding individuals’ generosity towards environmental NGOs. Moreover, we show that “Awe” reinforces intrinsic motivations. |
