| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa lettre 52 de Freud à Fliess (1896) fait l’hypothèse d’une «traduction» entre traces mnésiques d’époques différentes, ce qui définit le psychique comme réinterprétation permanente. Mais ne doit-on pas réserver le terme d’interprétation à la pratique psychanalytique, en la situant dans le champ des transferts?Une lecture attentive des textes de Freud où apparaît cette métaphore traductive (mise en évidence par J. Laplanche) amène à concevoir un réel irréductible à la traduction, à l’interprétation et à la représentation. La métapsychologie rompt avec la métaphysique tout en en conservant des systèmes terminologiques et par là même des régions idéologiques.Une seconde partie de cet article apporte une contribution à la discussion de la nouvelle traduction de Freud (OCF.P, P.U.F.). Dans une troisième partie est étudiée la façon dont C. Castoriadis propose une lecture de Freud délibérément opposée à la métaphore traductive de la lettre 52 avec sa théorie de l’imagination radicale. |

| Summary, etc. | Letter n?52 from Freud to Fliess (1896), introduces the hypothesis of a ‘translation’ between the mnemes of different periods, thus defining psychic activity as being a process of constant reinterpretation. Yet would it not be more logical to reserve the term interpretation for psychoanalytical practice as a part of transference?A close reading of Freud’s texts, which develop this metaphor of the translating process (as explored by J. Laplanche), leads us to see how a certain reality can neither be translated, interpreted nor represented. Metapsychology breaks clearly away here from metaphysics, while still retaining its terminological systems and thereby also adopting its ideological fields.The second part of this article goes on to shed light on the new translation of Freud’s work (OCF.P, P.U.F.) and in the third part, we shall look at how C. Castoriadis presents a reading of Freud’s ideas that is in deliberate contradiction with the translation metaphor of Letter 52 and its theory of radical imagination. |
