| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’hypothèse centrale qui sous-tend notre recherche est celle d’une permanence des tendances lourdes à la métropolisation et à la ségrégation des populations et des activités, notamment par l’émergence de polarités périphériques situées sur les axes principaux de transport. Les différents travaux effectués sur le Costa-Rica, la France et le Mexique nous ont conduit de fait à insister beaucoup plus sur la dimension de la ségrégation dans les évolutions à l’œuvre. Pour caractériser la métropolisation, il nous semble dorénavant nécessaire d’évoquer un triple phénomène de concentration, d’étalement urbain et de ségrégation. |

| Summary, etc. | Metropolization, concentration and segregation in european and american cities: Costa-Rica, France and MexicoThe underlying hypothesis of our research is that of a permanence of the metropolization and segregation trends in populations and activities, especially through the emergence of peripheral polarities situated along main transport axes. The different works carried out in Costa-Rica, France and Mexico in fact led us to emphasize the extent of segregation in the evolutions underway.
