| Summary, etc. | L’objectif de cet article est de mettre en évidence les raisons pour lesquelles la sociologie française, et plus particulièrement des organisations de travail, a négligé l’étude des émotions. La démonstration repose sur l’hypothèse d’évolutions conjointes de l’étude des émotions et des organisations dans les domaines de la psychologie et de la sociologie, principalement en France et aux États-Unis. Cette démarche fait émerger trois types d’approches correspondant à trois périodes : utilitaro-physiologique (1870-1960), cognitivo-stratégique (1955‑1980) et constructivo‑psychodynamique (1980-2000). L’article montre que ce n’est finalement qu’à partir des années 2000 que se développera l’étude des émotions en France, par l’analyse des organisations de travail, l’approche constructivo-psychodynamique permettant d’apporter un regard critique sur les formes de prescription émotionnelle et des réponses aux problématiques de souffrance au travail. |

| Summary, etc. | The aim of this article is to highlight the reasons why French sociology, and more particularly that of work organizations, has neglected the study of emotions. The demonstration is based on the hypothesis of joint developments in the study of emotions and organizations in the fields of psychology and sociology, mainly in France and the United States. This shows three types of approaches corresponding to three periods : utilitarian-physiological (1870-1960), cognitive‑strategic (1955‑1980), and constructive-psychodynamic (1980-2000). The article emphasizes that the study of emotions in France did not develop until the turn of the twenty-first century, through the analysis of work organizations, with the constructive-psychodynamic approach providing a critical perspective on the emotional prescription and responses to the problems of suffering at work. |
