| Summary, etc. | Cet article s’intéresse à des expérimentations interdisciplinaires conduites à la croisée des sciences archéologiques et des sciences informatiques, dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche récemment finalisé. Dans une perspective associant sociologie des sciences et infrastructure studies, nous cherchons à comprendre les modalités de l’hybridation et de la confrontation entre ces deux traditions épistémiques bien distinctes, et la manière dont deux technologies en particulier viennent équiper le raisonnement en archéologie préhistorique : l’intelligence artificielle et la réalité virtuelle. Nous nous fondons sur l’analyse de documents d’archives, des observations ethnographiques filmées ainsi que des entretiens semi-directifs pour retracer l’histoire du projet et ses reconfigurations successives. Nous analysons ainsi les conditions de félicité pour l’importation de dispositifs computationnels au sein des sciences archéologiques, et montrons que celle-ci implique un ajustement délicat de la distance entre les archéologues et le calculateur informatique. |

| Summary, etc. | This article focuses on interdisciplinary experiments conducted at the interface between archaeological and computational sciences, along a recently finalized research project. Combining the sociology of science and infrastructure studies, we explore the modalities of hybridization and confrontation between these two distinct epistemic traditions, and the way in which artificial intelligence and virtual reality inform and support scientific reasoning in prehistoric archaeology. We draw on an analysis of archival documents, filmed ethnographic observations and semi-structured interviews to trace the history of the project and its successive reconfigurations. This allows us to analyse the heuristic conditions for the importing of computational devices into the archaeological sciences. We also show that this involves a fine adjustment of the distance between the archaeologists and the computer. |
