| Summary, etc. | Au sein des game studies anglophones, l’apparition d’un sous-champ dédié aux game production studies est relativement récente. Elle traduit la montée de préoccupations scientifiques liées à la nécessité de comprendre un secteur des industries culturelles et créatives en pleine transformation, en particulier le développement des plateformes numériques, la multiplication des productions dites « indépendantes » et la précarisation du travail créatif. À partir d’un état des lieux des recherches existantes, nous proposons dans cette introduction au dossier de comprendre l’apport des textes présentés qui permettent d’élargir le spectre des perspectives de recherche sur la production de jeux vidéo. Nous présentons une grille de lecture qui rattache aussi le champ à des problématiques qui intéressent plus largement les travaux sur le numérique et les industries culturelles et créatives : les enjeux de la productivité et de la mise au travail des consommateurs ; les innovations marchandes, techniques et sociales introduites par internet et la « plateformisation » de la production et la distribution ; et enfin les enjeux liés à l’ancrage spatial et les dynamiques territoriales de l’industrie du jeu vidéo. |

| Summary, etc. | Only relatively recently did a sub-field dedicated to game production studies emerge in the English-speaking field of game studies. It reflects the rise of scientific concern to understand a rapidly evolving sector of cultural and creative industries, and especially the development of digital platforms, the proliferation of so-called “independent” productions and the increasingly precarious aspect of creative work. Based on an inventory of existing research, this introduction to the special issue provides an understanding of the contribution of the texts presented, which broaden the spectrum of research perspectives on video game production. We present a framework in which the field is connected to issues pertaining more generally to work on digital technology and the cultural and creative industries : the issues of productivity and consumer work ; the commercial, technical and social innovations introduced by internet and production and distribution platforming ; and finally the issues linked to the video game industry’s spatial anchoring and territorial dynamics. |
