| Summary, etc. | L’article esquisse un diagnostic de la société médiatique effrénée sans préjuger d’une pathologie préconçue et en défendant la génération internet contre une critique condescendante de la modernité. Il revient tout d’abord sur le XXe siècle, au cours duquel le caractère social est passé de la personnalité neurasthénique à la personnalité autoritaire, jusqu’au type narcissique de socialisation. Plusieurs diagnostics de l’époque s’affrontent dès le début du XXIe siècle dans le discours sur la relation de l’individu à la société, les thèses les plus influentes sur discours psychanalytique étant celles de la « fatigue du moi » d’Alain Ehrenberg et de l’accélération d’Hartmut Rosa, pour lesquelles la maladie typique de l’époque actuelle est la dépression. Une critique virulente de la modernité évoque l’anéantissement d’un sujet soumis à l’emprise sans limites de la manipulation dans le « totalitarisme numérique ». À la différence de ce pessimisme culturel, l’auteur examine ici, à l’aune d’une psychanalyse sociale appliquée, l’émergence de l’inédit et du nouveau dans le monde médiatique digitalisé et globalisé : un changement structurel du public qui démocratise le narcissisme médiatique ainsi qu’un changement structurel de la psyché contemporaine. Un modèle d’identité notoire se dégage ainsi dans la société médiatique, qu’on peut rapporter à une conception de l’identité inscrite dans le développement psychique résumée par la formule « je suis vu, donc je suis ! ». |

| Summary, etc. | This article outlines a diagnosis of the unchained media society, without prejudging a preconceived pathology, and defends the internet generation against a condescending critique of modernity. It first looks back at the 20th century, during which the social character switched from the neurasthenic personality to the authoritarian personality, and then to a narcissistic type of socialization. From the beginning of the 21st century, several diagnoses of the era clash in the discourse on the individual’s relationship to society. The most influential theses on psychoanalytic discourse are those of Alain Ehrenberg, with ‘the exhausted self’, and of Hartmut Rosa, with ‘acceleration of time’, and for whom the typical illness of the present era is depression. A virulent critique of modernity evokes the annihilation of a subject subjugated to the limitless grip of manipulation in ‘digital totalitarianism’. In contrast to this cultural pessimism, the author examines here, in light of applied relational psychoanalysis, the emergence of the new and the unprecedented in the digitalized and globalized media world: a structural change of the public that democratizes media narcissism, as well as a structural change of the contemporary psyche. An acknowledged model of identity is thus emerging in the media society, which can be related to a conception of identity embedded in psychological development and summed up as ‘I am seen, therefore I am’! |
