| Summary, etc. | Dans le contexte de discours critiques récurrents envers les partis politiques, des expérimentations se mettent en place, lors des élections présidentielles et législatives de 2017, afin de dépasser la forme partisane et de proposer d’autres alternatives à la sélection des candidats, en s’appuyant sur une plateforme. Celle-ci est en effet centrale dans nos deux cas d’étude – Ma Voix et LaPrimaire.org – car c’est par le truchement de la technique que s’organise la refonte des institutions. L’étude de ces initiatives repose sur l’analyse du design et du contenu des plateformes, ainsi que sur des entretiens et récits de vie avec les concepteurs, militants et usagers. L’analyse met au jour des visions plurielles de la démocratie et de son renouvellement : d’un côté, une vision capacitaire fondée sur l’individu compétent et, de l’autre, une conception basée sur un collectif de profanes anonymes et l’apprentissage. L’objectif d’ouvrir la démocratie – au sens d’aller chercher des internautes-candidats peu dotés socialement – n’est pas rempli : ceux qui osent s’inscrire via la plateforme sont en grande majorité des hommes, de gauche, ayant fait des études supérieures et habitant dans de grandes villes. |

| Summary, etc. | In the context of recurrent critical discourses on political parties, experiments were set up on platforms during the 2017 presidential and legislative elections, with a view to going beyond partisan politics and proposing other alternatives to the selection of candidates. Digital platforms were central to the two case studies—of Ma Voix and LaPrimaire.org—presented here, because it is through technology that institutions are redesigned. The study is based on the analysis of the design and content of the platforms, as well as on interviews with the designers, activists and users, and their life stories. It reveals differing visions of democracy and its renewal: on the one hand, a capacitated view based on the idea of competent individuals and, on the other, a conception based on a collective of anonymous laypersons and learning. The objective of opening up democracy—in the sense of seeking out Internet user-candidates with few social resources—has not been achieved; those who dare to register via the platform are mostly men, and are left-wing, with higher education, living in large cities. |
