| Summary, etc. | RésuméSaint Alphonse de Liguori (1686-1797) est le patron des moralistes catholiques, mais on en tient peu compte aujourd’hui. Cet article présente en trois temps l’argument en faveur de son actualité permanente. D’abord, il propose un status quaestionis. Ensuite, dans la section la plus étendue, il expose, textes d’Alphonse à l’appui, les éléments qui suggèrent son actualité : la conscience, la liberté, l’argumentation intrinsèque, la prudence pastorale, une théologie de la conversion. L’article conclut en indiquant le type de théologie morale que prône Gaudium et Spes : bien que le contexte soit différent de celui de l’époque de saint Alphonse, l’auteur propose quelques lignes de convergence qui pourraient faciliter l’intégration de son système à celui utilisé aujourd’hui. |

| Summary, etc. | The Actuality of Saint Alphonse de Liguori’s Moral TheologySaint Alphonsus de Liguori (1686-1797) is the Patron Saint of Moralists but is now little considered by moral theologians. This article argues in favour of a continuing actuality, in three steps. Firstly, the general status quaestionis is outlined. In the second and longest section, there is an outline, based on texts from Alphonsus, of the elements which suggest his actuality: conscience, liberty, intrinsic argumentation, pastoral prudence, a theology of conversion. The article concludes with an indication of the type of moral theology favoured by Gaudium et spes : though the context is completely different to the moral theology of Saint Alphonsus, the author proposes some lines of convergence that would facilitate the actuality of Saint Alphonsus. |
