Mais il semblerait que son autorité ait moins tenu aux pouvoirs qui lui ont été attribués par la loi du 6 mars 2000 qu’a ce qu’en ont fait les personnes qui l’ont incarné : Claire Brisset, de 2000 à 2006, et Dominique Versini, de 2006 à 2011. Leur dynamisme et leur liberté de ton ont fait du Défenseur des enfants non seulement une institution incontournable en matière de défense des droits de l’enfant mais encore un contre-pouvoir qui a pu gêner les pouvoirs publics. |

| Summary, etc. | — Ombudsperson for Children : success story of independence — The Ombusperson for Children has worked successfully over the last eleven years. It seems that this success has less to do with the actual competences attributed to it by the law dated 6th March 2000, but rather the way they were handled by the persons in charge : Claire Brisset from 2000 to 2006 and Dominique Versini from 2006 to 2011. Thanks to their dynamism and independent thinking, the Ombudsperson for Children has emerged not only as a highly reputed authority in the area of protection of children’s rights but also as a watchdog capable of discomfiting the public authorities. |
