| Summary, etc. | En 40 ans d’existence, les thèmes des colloques de la fondation Rodhain ont progressivement évolué des thématiques institutionnelles vers des questions existentielles vécues par les personnes en situation de précarité. Le choix de traiter du monde carcéral et ses implications sociales et sociétales se situent dans ce changement de paradigme lorsqu’il souligne le rôle d’un espace commun de l’humain rendu opérant par le passage de la peine à la sanction par une triple écoute : d’abord l’écoute de la parole des auteurs de crimes et de leur témoignage de vie en milieu carcéral et des enjeux concrets d’une peine qui déborde le temps d’emprisonnement ; ensuite l’écoute des victimes à travers la fonction et les modalités d’application de la justice restaurative ; enfin, l’écoute plus générale de la fonction judiciaire et sa confrontation au cas particulier des détenus âgés ou vulnérables. Il s’agit de redéfinir un espace commun de l’humain par-delà la fragmentation causée par le crime dans l’exercice exigeant d’une culture de la rencontre. |

| Summary, etc. | In the 40 years of its existence, the themes of the Rodhain Foundation’s symposia have gradually shifted from institutional issues to existential questions experienced by people in precarious situations. The decision to address the world of the prison and its social and societal implications is part of this paradigm shift, underscoring the role of a common human space made operative by the transition from punishment to sanction through a threefold listening process: firstly, listening to the words of the perpetrators of crime and their accounts of life in prison, considering the concrete issues at stake in a penalty that extends beyond the period of imprisonment; secondly, listening to the victims through the function and application of restorative justice; and thirdly, listening more generally to the judicial system and its confrontation with the particular case of elderly or vulnerable prisoners. The aim is to redefine a common human space that transcends the fragmentation caused by crime, in the demanding exercise of a culture of encounter. |
