| Summary, etc. | Là où il se déploie, le voile islamique nourrit des débats foisonnants et soulève la question de l’hypervisibilité du religieux, et de l’idéologie patriarcale qui le sous-tend. À partir d’une enquête ethnographique réalisée avec des adolescentes tunisiennes qui ont choisi de l’adopter dans un contexte de répression du voilement des femmes par le pouvoir en place (de 2005 à 2009), cet article ambitionne de confronter l’image du voile islamique, souvent jugé et fantasmé de l’extérieur, à un « regard interne », c’est-à‑dire à la manière dont il est représenté et subjectivé par les jeunes filles qui font le choix de l’épouser. Ce positionnement éthique nous a permis de croiser les regards et de mettre en lumière cette confrontation des représentations et des imaginaires que le voile mobilise aussi bien chez celles qui l’adoptent que chez ceux qui l’observent. Loin de se positionner comme des femmes-objets, les adolescentes qui épousent le voile en font tantôt un symbole de lutte contre un Occident colonisateur et dominant, tantôt un moyen de dépasser le corps source de honte pour être dans une féminité inatteignable et sublimée, une féminité au-delà du regard. |

| Summary, etc. | Where it unfolds, the Islamic veil nourishes abounding debates and raises the question of the religious hypervisibility and the patriarchal ideology behind it. Based on an ethographic research on Tunisian teenagers that have chosen to wear a veil in a context of repression of veilement by the autorities (from 2005 to 2009), this article aims to confront the image of the Islamic veil, often judged and fantasized from the outside, to an « inner look », that is to say, to the way it is represented and subjugated by the young girls who choose to wear it. This ethical positioning allows us to cross ours points of vue and highlight this confrontation of representations and imaginations that the veil mobilizes both by those who adopt and by those who observe it. Far from positioning themselves as women-objects, teenagers who wear the veil sometimes use it as a symbol of struggle against a dominant and western colonizer, sometimes as a way to go beyond the shameful body, to reach an unattainable and sublimated femininity, a femininity beyond the eye. |
