Quand et comment l’accord tacite avec l’ordre existant est-il rompu ? Quel rôle et quelle fonction les émotions jouent-elles dans ce procès ? À ces questions, Pierre Bourdieu, interrogeant, avec un recul de seize ans, le mouvement français de Mai 1968 a choisi, dans Homo academicus (1984) de répondre sous la forme d’un modèle : celui des « événements critiques » et du « moment critique ». Ce modèle peut être, comme le prétend l’auteur, « étendu à toute crise ou révolution ». Comme Bourdieu s’est abstenu de le faire, et a limité son analyse de la crise de Mai au seul champ académique, le texte consacrera à cette question deux études de cas – la Nuit des Barricades (10/11 mai 1968) à Paris et le 2 juin 1967 à Berlin – avant d’approfondir le lien entre « moment critique », le fait d’être touché et les façons d’agir à partir de témoignages de protagonistes choisis et d’esquisser, en épilogue, la révision du concept de révolution à partir des événements protestataires. Le texte inclut comme source contemporaine les impressions et réflexions d’Herbert Marcuse, qui a séjourné à Paris du 1er au 12 mai 1968. |

| Summary, etc. | Why don’t people revolt against oppressive relations of power and domination? Why do they submit to interests that oppose their needs? When and how is the tacit agreement with the existing order broken? What role and function do emotions play in this process? In Homo academicus (1984) Pierre Bourdieu, looking back on the French movement of May 1968, chose to answer these questions in the form of a model: that of ‘critical events’ and the ‘critical moment’. This model can be, as the author claims, ‘extended to any crisis or revolution’. As Bourdieu refrained from doing so, and limited his analysis of the May crisis to the academic field, the text will devote two case studies to this question – the Night of the Barricades (10/11 May 1968) in Paris and 2 June 1967 in Berlin – before deepening the link between the ‘critical moment’, the fact of being affected, and the ways of acting based on testimonies of selected protagonists, and sketching, in the epilogue, the revision of the concept of revolution based on the protest events. The text includes as a contemporary source the impressions and reflections of Herbert Marcuse, who stayed in Paris from 1 to 12 May 1968. |
