| Summary, etc. | L’objectif de l’article est de déterminer l’utilité que peut avoir l’imagination dans la réponse éthique à apporter à la situation actuelle de crise écologique. Un premier temps est consacré à l’analyse de la place que Hans Jonas accorde à l’imagination dans l’élaboration de l’éthique environnementale qu’il expose dans Le Principe responsabilité. L’imagination permet de combler la distance temporelle entre l’agir technique et ses effets : y recourir est donc nécessaire pour mettre en œuvre l’heuristique de la peur et identifier les principes éthiques. Nous établissons également que le recours à l’imagination est nécessaire à la mise en pratique de l’éthique de la responsabilité. Un deuxième temps questionne la pertinence du recours à l’imagination en vue de l’action écologiquement juste, dans le contexte actuel où les dégradations écologiques sont pour une large part présentes, non plus à venir comme au temps de Jonas. Nous posons que ce recours est toujours nécessaire pour mettre en œuvre l’éthique de la responsabilité, et justifions cette idée par une distance spatiale subsistante entre notre agir et ses effets que l’imagination permet de combler, ainsi que par la vertu incitative de l’imagination. |

| Summary, etc. | The aim of this article is to determine the usefulness of imagination in the ethical answer to the current ecological crisis. The first stage of this work is devoted to an analysis of the place Hans Jonas gives to imagination while building an environmental ethics in The Imperative of Responsibility. Imagination allows to fill in the gap between acts and their effects. Therefore, it is necessary to apply the heuristics of fear, and identify ethical imperatives as well as to put in practice the ethics of responsibility. The second stage questions the relevance of the use of imagination in a context of ecological crisis, in which ecological damages are mostly present and not in the future. The assumed thesis is that imagination remains useful to put the ethics of responsibility into practice. It is justified by a remaining spatial distance between acts and their ecological effects, and by the incitative propriety of imagination. |
