| Summary, etc. | RésuméDans un contexte de réformes et de discours sur l’« excellence » académique, les classements d’universités se sont multipliés dans les années 2000. L’analyse de l’émergence et du traitement dans la presse française du classement dit « de Shanghai », premier classement international issu du champ académique, permet d’objectiver les caractéristiques de sa diffusion, depuis la date de sa publication en Chine, en juin 2003. L’article montre l’intensification du processus à partir de 2007 ainsi que la place de certains organes de presse et acteurs. Il met au jour l’importance du cadrage dépréciatif pour « faire événement ». Il montre également que le processus a été co-construit par différents acteurs. Le classement a été une ressource journalistique et également un argument politique justifiant les réformes ainsi qu’un outil de communication pour certains présidents d’université. |

| Summary, etc. | Mediatisation and socio-discursive uses of the Shanghai rankingIn a context of reforms and discourses on academic “excellence”, university rankings multiplied in the 2000s. The analysis of the emergence and treatment, in the French press, of the so-called “Shanghai” ranking, the first international ranking made within the academic field, makes it possible to objectify the characteristics of its diffusion, since the date of its publication in China in June 2003. The article shows the intensification of the process from 2007 as well as the place of certain press organs and actors. He brings to light the importance of the depreciative interpretation made of the ranking for “making an event”. It also shows that the process was co-constructed by various actors. The ranking has not only been part of a journalist resource but also a political argument used to justify reforms as well as a communicational resource for some presidents of universities. |
