| Summary, etc. | RésuméContrairement à une thèse répandue, les libéraux allemands du Vormärz n’ont pas radicalement mésinterprété la Constitution britannique de leur temps. Sans doute, l’image classique héritée de Montesquieu et De Lolme demeure prégnante pour certains, tandis que d’autres jugent sans indulgence le caractère aristocratique du régime d’Albion, mais les plus fins discernent en particulier sa dynamique du gouvernement parlementaire qui s’affirme de plus en plus nettement dans les années 1830, et étaient à même d’articuler un discours informé face aux publicistes conservateurs. L’appréciation des institutions anglaises révèle (ou confirme) toutefois la relative hétérogénéité intellectuelle du libéralisme du Vormärz. |

| Summary, etc. | Contrarily to the prevalent assertion, the German Liberals of the Vormärz did not misunderstand the British Constitution of their time. Of course, the classical picture inherited from Montesquieu and De Lolme remained predominant for a large part of the Liberals, while some others criticized severely the aristocratical nature of Albion’s government system. But the most perspicacious authors discerned the dynamics of parliamentary government which has been especially grown up in the 1830ies. So they succeeded in formulating in opposition to conservative authors an exact and relevant discourse about the English Constitution. Nevertheless, the liberal opinions about the English System reveals (or confirms) the relative intellectual heterogeneity of the Liberalism of the Vormärz. |
