| Summary, etc. | Après avoir rappelé ce qui distingue une base de données d’un corpus, on tentera de dresser un rapide panorama des différentes sources documentaires importantes existant à ce jour dans le domaine de la diachronie du français, puis on montrera quel usage peut en être fait grâce à une série d’outils aujourd’hui disponibles, et surtout comment l’accès à de gros corpus permet de renouveler notre analyse de certains faits linguistiques, et contraint à un déplacement qualitatif dans le mode de raisonnement linguistique lui-même. |

| Summary, etc. | After having reminded what distinguishes a database from a corpus, the author of the present article gives a rapid overview of the most important documentary sources that exist today in the domain of French diachrony, after which she demonstrates first, what use can be made of them thanks to a series of tools available today, and second, and more important, how the access to large corpora allows us to review our analysis of linguistic facts, and invites us to a qualitative change in our linguistic reasoning. |
