| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’existence d’une plasticité cérébrale s’oppose à la conception d’un cerveau fixe et immuable ; des exemples montrent que son organisation fonctionnelle peut se modifier dans certaines circonstances : suppléance de l’hémisphère cérébral gauche lésé, siège du langage, chez l’aphasique par l’hémisphère droit ; récupération de la surface de projection normale des mains sur le cortex après l’allogreffe des deux mains et chez le sujet sain : nombreux exemples d’asymétrie de la représentation corticale d’une main d’avantage utilisée que l’autre (musiciens) et surtout, contrairement à la théorie classique, découverte récente d’une production de nouveaux neurones dans la substance blanche de l’adulte pouvant migrer à distance vers un foyer lésionnel. La plasticité cérébrale contribue donc au lien somatopsychique, à l’échelon microscopique, elle est un des éléments de la mémoire et de la conscience. |

| Summary, etc. | The existence of plasticity in the brain contradicts the theory of a fixed and immutable brain; there are examples to demonstrate that its functional organisation can be modified in certain circumstances, such as the substitution of the damaged left brain hemisphere, the source of language, by the right hemisphere in the aphasic and the recovery of the normal projection area of the hands on the cortex following an allograft of both hands. This also occurs in the healthy subject: there are many examples of asymmetry in the cortical representation of one hand that is used more than the other (musicians) and above all, contrary to classical theory, there is the recent discovery that the adult’s white matter produces new neurones that can migrate over a long distance towards a lesional site. The brain’s plasticity therefore contributes to the somatopsychic connection; at the microscopic level, it is one of the elements of memory and consciousness. |

| Summary, etc. | ResumenLa existencia de una plasticidad cerebral está en oposición con la concepción de un cerebro fijo e inmutable; algunos ejemplos muestran que su organización funcional puede modificarse en determinadas circunstancias: suplencia del hemisferio cerebral izquierdo dañado, centro del lenguaje, en el afásico por el hemisferio derecho; recuperación de la superficie de projección normal de las manos en el córtex luego del transplante de las dos manos en una persona sana: muchos casos de asimetría de la representación cortical de una mano utilizada más que la otra (músicos) y fundamentalmente, en contra de la teoría clásica, descubrimiento reciente de la producción de nuevos neurones en la sustancia blanca del adulto que pueden desplazarse hacia un núcleo dañado. La plasticidad cerebral contrinbuye entonces al lazo somato-psíquico, a escala microscópica, es uno de los elementos de la memoria y de la conciencia. |

| Summary, etc. | ZusammenfassungDie Existenz einer Plastizität des Gehirns widersetzt sich der Vorstellung von einem unbeweglichen und unveränderlichen Gehirn; Beispiele zeigen, dass sich seine funktionnelle Organisation unter gewissen Umständen verändern kann: so die Stellvertretung der verletzten linken Gehirnhälfte, dem Sitz der Sprache, durch die rechte Hemisphäre beim an Aphasie Leidenden; die Wiedererlangung der normalen Projektionsfläche der Hände auf dem Kortex nach einer Allo-Transplantation der beiden Hände bei einer gesunden Person; zahlreiche Beispiele von einer Asymmetrie der kortikalen Vorstellung einer Hand, die mehr gebraucht wird als die andere (bei Musikern) und vor allem, im Gegensatz zur klassischen Theorie, die neuere Entdeckung der Produktion von neuen Nervenzellen in der weissen Substanz des Erwachsenen, die zu einem entfernten verletzten Gebiet wandern können. Die Plastizität des Gehirns ist also an der somato-psychischen Bindung auf einer mikroskopischen Ebene beteiligt und eines der Elemente des Gedächtnisses und des Bewusstseins. |

| Summary, etc. | RiassuntoL’esistenza di una plasticità cerebrale si oppone alla concezione di un cervello fisso e immutabile; alcuni esempi mostrano che la sua organizzazione funzionale puo’ modificarsi in certe circostanze: supplenza dell’emisfero cerebrale sinistro leso, sede del linguaggio, nell’afasico da parte dell’emisfero destro; recupero della superficie di proiezione normale delle mani sulla corteccia dopo l’allotrapianto di due mani e nel soggetto sano: numerosi esempi si asimmetria della rappresentazione corticale di una mano utilizzata più dell’altra (musicisti) e soprattutto, contrariamente alla teoria classica, scoperta recente della produzione di nuovi neuroni nella sostanza bianca dell’adulto che puo’ migrare a distanza verso un focolaio di lesioni. La plasticità cerebrale contribuisce quindi al legame somato-psichico, su scala microscopica, ed è uno degli elementi della memoria e della coscienza. |
