| Summary, etc. | Le mythe de Narcisse est à l’origine d’une stratégie de représentation confrontant la personne à sa propre image par le biais d’un médium. Il devient ainsi paradigmatique de toute réflexion engageant un individu face à son image au miroir et semble faire de même autorité lorsqu’il s’agit de considérer le rapport d’un individu au regard de son image, représentée non plus uniquement au miroir mais également sur tout autre support bidimensionnel : toile ou écran. La présente étude tente de mettre à jour les situations d’illusion qui structurent ce récit fondateur, dans sa version ovidienne, et considère leur reformulation en termes visuels dans l’œuvre du Caravage et de Bill Viola. |

From Caravaggio to Bill ViolaThe Narcissus myth gives rise to a representational strategy that confronts the person with his or her own image through a medium. It thus becomes paradigmatic of any reflection that involves an individual facing his or her own image in the mirror, and seems to be equally authoritative in considering an individual’s relation to looking at his or her image, represented no longer only in the mirror but also on any other two-dimensional support : the canvas or the screen. This study attempts to elucidate the situations of illusion that structure this founding narrative, in its Ovidian version, and examines their visual reformulation in the works of Caravaggio and Bill Viola. |

Será pues el paradigma de toda reflexión que enlaza un individuo y su imagen en un espejo y aparece también como referente cuando se trata de considerar la relación de un individuo en función de su imagen, ya no solo representada en el espejo sino al mismo tiempo sobre cualquier soporte bidimensional : lienzo o pantalla. El presente estudio intenta clarificar las situaciones de ilusión que estructuran el relato fundador, en la versión ovidiana, y considera su reformulación en términos visuales en la obra del Caravaggio y de Bill Viola. |

| Summary, etc. | Der Mythos von Narziss liegt einer Repräsentationsstrategie zugrunde, die eine Person durch ein Medium mit ihrem eigenen Bild konfrontiert. So wird er damit zum Muster für jegliche Reflexion, zu der ein Individuum angesichts seines Spiegelbilds angeregt wird, und erscheint ebenso maßgebend zu sein, wenn es darum geht, die Beziehung einer Person zu ihrem Bild von sich zu überprüfen, das nicht mehr allein durch den Spiegel, sondern durch jede andere zweidimensionale Projektionsfläche, Leinwand oder Bildschirm, repräsentiert wird. Die vorliegende Studie versucht, die Situationen von Illusion, welche die ursprüngliche Erzählung in der Ovidschen Version strukturieren, herauszuarbeiten und betrachtet ihre Neuformulierung in visuellen Begriffen im Werk von Caravaggio und Bill Viola. |

In questo modo diventa il paradigma di ogni riflessione che confronti un individuo alla sua immagine nello specchio, e sembra essere ugualmente pertinente quando si esamina il rapporto di un individuo riguardo alla sua immagine, non più rappresentata unicamente allo specchio ma anche su qualunque altro supporto bidimensionale : tela o schermo. Questo studio tenta di mettere alla luce le situazioni d’illusione che strutturano questo racconto fondatore, nella sua versione ovidiana, ed esamina la loro riformulazione in termini visivi nell’opera del Caravaggio e di Bill Viola. |
