| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article présente une analyse sociologique des échecs organisationnels de jeunes entreprises pionnières dans des secteurs économiques émergents, à partir d’une étude de cinq cas. Il interprète les projets pionniers comme visant la création ou la modification d’institutions sociales. Dans cette perspective, l’échec peut résulter de l’incompatibilité avec un ordre institutionnel bien établi, de l’inexistence d’un tel ordre, ou de l’insuffisance des ressources sociales dont disposent les entrepreneurs. |

| Summary, etc. | This article presents a sociological analysis of organizational failures by leading-edge start-up companies in emerging economic sectors. The five reviewed case studies reveal efforts to create or modify supportive social institutions. Failure may result from a project’s incompatibility with entrenched institutional orders, the absence of supportive institutional frameworks, or the dearth of social resources available to entrepreneurs attempting to gain a foothold in cutting edge business environments. |
