| Summary, etc. | RésuméL’analyse de la réforme de la recherche de 2006 conduit à distinguer deux registres d’action : un discours général et des politiques particulières aux disciplines scientifiques. Dans le premier cas, la volonté d’augmenter les performances des chercheurs s’appuie sur une intensification de la compétition individuelle c’est-à-dire sur un raisonnement emprunté à la théorie économique néoclassique qui, par ce biais, sert de fondement à la nouvelle politique de recherche. Il est montré que cette théorie ne peut s’appliquer aux produits et acteurs de la recherche et que la justification n’est qu’une illusion. Dans le second cas, une comparaison des pratiques d’évaluation de l’économie et de la sociologie met en évidence deux univers non seulement différents mais opposés d’indicateurs et de classement, de modalités de distribution des ressources de la recherche (prime, carrière, financement), de conséquences, qui résultent de l’usage de critères de l’excellence scientifique non seulement différents mais aussi opposés. L’absence de moyens pour prévenir les effets néfastes inattendus est, par contre, commune aux deux disciplines. On peut s’interroger sur les buts réels de la réforme de la recherche. |

| Summary, etc. | « Performance », « excellence » and scientific creationAnalysis of the 2006 French public reform of research should distinguish between two levels of action: a general discourse and policies designed for specific scientific disciplines. The discourse links researchers increased performance to intensified interindividual competition – an argument borrowed from neoclassical economic theory, which thus becomes the foundation for the new research policy. But this theory is not relevant to research products and actors and thus this justification is merely an illusion. The comparison of policies applied to economics and sociology brings to light two different worlds of indicators and rankings, two modes of resource distribution (bonuses, career, research funding) and two sets of effects, a situation due to the fact that the two disciplines apply two different criteria of scientific excellence. However, both disciplines are lacking in means for preventing harmful unexpected consequences. One may wonder about the real objectives of this research reform. |
