| Summary, etc. | Cet article propose de retracer l’histoire longue des tentatives de constituer la Lune et ses ressources comme biens appropriables, depuis le champ de l’astronautique états-unienne. L’objectif des avocats de la propriété dans le milieu de l’espace a consisté à contredire l’un des articles du Traité de l’espace de 1967, lequel définit les ressources et corps célestes de l’espace extra-atmosphérique comme « biens communs de l’humanité » non appropriables. Depuis les années 1970 jusqu’aux années 2010, les entrepreneurs états-uniens de l’économie de marché lunaire n’ont cessé de projeter une vision libérale – puis néolibérale – de la propriété de la Lune, en passe de s’imposer alors que le retour sur la Lune paraît plausible dans la décennie 2020 qui s’ouvre. On documentera ces vues du capitalisme spatial sans pour autant prendre au mot ni à la lettre les projets de cette économie privatisée de la Lune, car l’enthousiasme des partisans de la « colonisation » entrepreneuriale du satellite naturel de la Terre est à relativiser par le caractère encore utopique de cette entreprise. |

| Summary, etc. | This contribution intends to explain the long history of the efforts to constitute the Moon and its resources as appropriable goods, from the US astronautic field. The aim of the space property lawyers was to contradict one of the articles of the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which defines the resources and celestial bodies of outer space as non-appropriable “common heritage of mankind.” From the 1970s to the 2010s, American entrepreneurs of the lunar market economy constantly projected a liberal—and then neoliberal—vision of the ownership of the Moon, which is becoming more and more prevalent as a return to the Moon seems increasingly plausible in the 2020s. We will discuss these views of space capitalism without, however, taking the projects of this privatized economy of the Moon at face value, because the enthusiasm of the proponents of the entrepreneurial “colonization” of the Earth’s natural satellite must be tempered by the still utopian character of this enterprise. |
