520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | ABSTRACT In contrast with Rigord’s assertion of his profession at once as a physician and as a historiographer of the king of France, his chronicle doesn’t reflect any distinctive interest in medical or pathological realities : is this lack of attention inferable from his own mediocrity or, more basically, from the genre of historical writings during the Middle Ages ? The study of the narrative and of its successive dedications leads to contest the legitimacy of his qualifications. The murderess or ironical denigration formulated by his contemporaries against Rigord gives to appreciate the historiographical issues of the time. |
