| Summary, etc. | RÉSUMÉ L’évolution de la Banque de Salonique reflète les mutations des flux économiques provoquées par la réorganisation des ensembles (géo)politiques en Méditerranée nord-orientale. Tête de pont des flux commerciaux balkaniques au cœur de la mer Égée septentrionale, la place de Salonique est un foyer du négoce « levantin » et un pôle d’intérêts bancaires de marchands israélites dans les Balkans au tournant du XXe siècle, ce qui attire les intérêts français par le biais de la Banque de Salonique, en complément de la puissance de feu développée par l’imposante Banque impériale ottomane de part et d’autre des détroits. Le remodelage des pôles d’intérêts qui suit les crises des années 1910-1920 modifie le positionnement de la Banque de Salonique ; elle s’insère alors dans la stratégie de déploiement du Crédit foncier d’Algérie et de Tunisie vers la Méditerranée orientale, quand les intérêts français accentuent leur présence au Levant ; elle devient alors une pièce de ce mini-impérialisme tertiaire qui fédère des intérêts financiers et commerciaux pour asseoir l’influence française dans le quadrilatère Athènes-Salonique-Smyrne-Beyrouth pendant l’entre-deux-guerres. |

| Summary, etc. | ABSTRACT The fate of Banque de Salonique followed the changes of economic flows caused by the reorganisation of (geo)political blocks in the north-eastern Mediterranean area. As a bridgehead of Balkanic commercial flows towards northern Egean Sea, the Salonica marketplace was a pole of « Levantine » wholesale trade and a key place of Israelite economy in the Balkans at the beginning of the twentieth century, which drew French interests through the Banque de Salonique, as a complement to the powerful forces gathered by Banque impériale ottomane all across the Straits. The rebuilding of interest poles which followed the 1910-1920 crisis led to a repositionning of Banque de Salonique ; it became then a piece within the strategy of redeployment defined by Crédit foncier d’Algérie et de Tunisie towards the Eastern Mediterranean area, when French interests developed their role in Middle East and Levant. It became thus an element of that low-key imperialism specialised in services which federated financial and commercial interests in order to consolidate French influence in the square constituted by Athens, Salonica, Smyrnia and Beyrouth in the interwar. |
