| Summary, etc. | RÉSUMÉ Il s’agit d’un essai historiographique portant sur les études relatives aux vêtements grecs et romains dans l’Antiquité, notamment à leurs usages politiques et culturels. L’analyse bibliographique est organisée, d’une part, selon les perspectives reflétées par la recherche récente, d’autre part, selon des thématiques précises : le vêtement et la nudité comme marqueurs d’identité, les gestes associés au costume : du corps vêtu au corps dévêtu, et enfin les normes et transgressions vestimentaires. En concevant le vêtement et la dénudation dans leurs dimensions sociologique et culturelle, les auteurs proposent de privilégier dans de futures recherches une approche anthropologique. |

| Summary, etc. | ABSTRACT We propose a historiographic essay about studies on Greek and Roman costume in Antiquity, specially in relation to their political and cultural uses. The analysis of the bibliography depends on one hand on the recent perspectives of research, on another hand on specific topics like clothing and nudity as identity labels, gestures connected to the clothes (dressing up, undressing), and finally norms and transgressions expressed through clothes. By looking at clothes or lack of clothes in their sociological and cultural dimensions, we argue for an anthropological approach. |
