| Summary, etc. | L’Université Ouvrière Africaine est une expérience de formation syndicale, destinée aux cadres ou futurs cadres syndicaux. Cet article en propose une histoire. Il s’intéresse à des stagiaires venus de divers pays africains, ainsi qu’aux enseignements dispensés et à leur réception. L’histoire de cette école, financée par la communiste Fédération syndicale mondiale (FSM) et dirigée par le militant cégétiste Maurice Gastaud, offre un prisme de lecture favorable pour mieux comprendre la Guinée des années 1960 ainsi que, plus généralement, les stratégies de guerre froide sur le continent africain. L’école participe aussi d’une diffusion mondialisée des pratiques et savoirs militants, ainsi que de leur réception, dans une Afrique qui n’a pas toujours choisi entre l’Est et l’Ouest. |

| Summary, etc. | The African Labor University is a labor-union formation, dedicated to the education of executives or future labor-union executives. This article proposes a history of this experiment. It follows trainees coming from diverse African countries, describes the classes they followed and how they perceived them. The history of this school, financed by the communist World Federation of Trade Unions (Fédération syndicale mondiale, FSM) and managed by Maurice Gastaud, an activist member of the CGT (a French trade union), enables a better understanding of the Guinea of the 60s and more generally, of Cold War strategies on the African continent. The school also proves the globalization of militant practices and knowledge, in an Africa that remains undecided between the East and the West. |
