| Summary, etc. | Écrivain français communiste, Jean-Richard Bloch était probablement le seul intellectuel français à avoir demandé l’asile politique en URSS pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. L’expérience unique de son exil soviétique, partiellement reconstituée grâce à ses notes inédites, ainsi que celles de sa femme, gardées au Département des Manuscrits de la Bibliothèque nationale de France, commence par l’arrivée de Bloch en URSS et son séjour à Moscou (avril-octobre 1941), suivi de son évacuation vers l’Est à Kazan sous l’égide de l’Union des écrivains soviétiques (octobre-décembre 1941), et ensuite à Oufa où il sera mobilisé par l’Internationale Communiste pour lire ses Commentaires à la Radio du Komintern à destination de la France occupée (décembre 1941-décembre 1942). Après avoir examiné brièvement le développement des relations que Bloch entretenait avec l’Union des écrivains dans de nouvelles conditions de guerre, nous nous concentrerons sur les attentes du Komintern à l’égard de Bloch et de sa femme. La reconstruction des conditions de travail et de la qualité de vie de la « famille kominternienne » contribuera à la littérature limitée (Ceretti, Cauchy, Thorez-Vermeersch, Wieviorka) de la période à Oufa, et fera lumière sur les fonctions de Bloch, ainsi que son statut et ses interactions avec la direction de l’Internationale Communiste. |

| Summary, etc. | Moscow – Kazan – Ufa: Jean-Richard Bloch in 1941-1942 A French communist writer, Jean-Richard Bloch was possibly the only French intellectual who had sought political asylum in the USSR during WWII. His unique experience of Soviet exile can be partially reconstructed through his and his wife’s notes, kept in the Manuscript Department of the Bibliothèque nationale de France. The current article reconstructs Bloch’s initial arrival and stay in Moscow (April-October 1941), his evacuation eastwards to Kazan under the auspices of the Soviet Writers’ Union (October -December 1941), and his life and work in Ufa as a member of the Comintern (December 1941-December 1942). Having examined the development of Bloch’s pre-war relations with the Soviet Union under the new conditions, including the changes in his status, we shall focus on the way Bloch and his wife were expected to operate by the Comintern. The reconstruction of the ‘Comintern family’’s living and working conditions will add to the scarce literature (Ceretti, Thorez-Vermeersch, Wieviorka) on the Ufa period, and will shed some light on Bloch’s new functions and interaction with the Comintern leadership. |
