| Summary, etc. | En s’appuyant sur le stratagème d’Ulysse simulant la folie afin de sauver Télémaque, son enfant encore bébé, Kohut propose de « saper le pouvoir du mythe qui a soutenu le concept de Freud » et de substituer un paradigme ulyssien au paradigme œdipien ; il veut ainsi minimiser l’importance théorique du conflit des générations et souligner au contraire celle de la continuité dans la filiation. Or, d’après la mythologie grecque, la postérité d’Ulysse est remarquablement… œdipienne. Pour nous, malgré lui, Kohut démontre le conflit des générations – son conflit avec Freud – et l’ubiquité et la puissance du complexe d’Œdipe. |

| Summary, etc. | Drawing on Odysseus’ strategy of simulating madness in order to save Telemachus, his child who was still a baby, Kohut attempts “to undermine the power of the myth that has supported Freud’s concept” and substitutes an Odysseusian paradigm for the oedipal paradigm. In so doing, he seeks to minimize the theoretical importance of the conflict of the generations and to place emphasis instead on that of continuity in filiation. However, according to Greek mythology, the posterity of Odysseus is remarkably… oedipal. In my view, Kohut, in spite of himself, demonstrates the conflict of the generations – his conflict with Freud – and the ubiquity and power of the Oedipus complex. |

| Summary, etc. | Apoyándose en la estratagema de Ulises que simula locura para salvar a Telémaco, su hijo aún bebé, Kohut propone “socavar el poder del mito en el que se ha basado el concepto de Freud” y sustituir el paradigma ulisiaco por un paradigma edípico; él quiere pues minimizar la importancia teórica del conflicto de generaciones y opuestamente poner de relieve la continuidad en la filiación. Ahora bien, de acuerdo con la mitología griega, la posteridad de Ulises es notoriamente edípica. Para nosotros, a pesar suyo, Kohut demuestra el conflicto de las generaciones – su conflicto con Freud – y la ubicuidad y potencia del complejo de Edipo. |
