Avocat en Savoie quelques années dans sa jeunesse, il garda toute sa vie l’habitus du barreau, défenseur des libertés. Il esquissa dans ses ouvrages un tableau pittoresque de la vie judiciaire en province au début du xxe siècle et les intrigues de ses romans comportent souvent des personnages et des situations impliqués dans des enjeux juridiques contemporains. |

| Summary, etc. | Largely forgotten today, Henry Bordeaux, defender of the values of tradition, member of the French Academy (1870-1963), was in his time a successful novelist. Lawyer in Savoy a few years in his youth, he kept all his life the habitus of the bar, defender of liberties. In his books, he sketched a picturesque scene of judicial life in the provinces at the beginning of the 20th century, and the plots of his novels often include characters and situations involved in contemporary legal issues. |
