| Summary, etc. | Le livre publié par Philippe Artières en 2020 sous le titre Un séminariste assassin. L’Affaire Bladier, 1905 retrace et analyse avec une rare acuité un meurtre atroce commis dans le Cantal l’année de la séparation des Églises et de l’État : le 1er septembre 1905, au village de Raulhac Jean-Marie Bladier, dix-sept ans, élève du petit séminaire de Saint-Flour, tue à coup de couteau Jean Raulnay, treize ans, lui coupe la tête qu’il élève vers le ciel ; puis il se livre aux gendarmes. Il est examiné à Lyon par le docteur Alexandre Lacassagne qui lui fait rédiger son autobiographie et reconnaît son irresponsabilité pénale. À l’occasion d’une relecture, on entend ici revenir sur quatre thèmes majeurs de l’analyse historique du cas Bladier : l’histoire rurale ; l’histoire de l’éducation ; l’histoire du sacrement de confession ; et la symbolique de la céphalophorie. |

| Summary, etc. | The book published by Philippe Artières in 2020, A seminarian murderer. The Bladier Affair, 1905 analyzes with rare acuity an atrocious murder committed in mountains of central France in the year of the separation of Church and State: September 1, 1905, in the village of Raulhac, Jean-Marie Bladier, seventeen years old, pupil of the minor seminary of Saint-Flour, kills with a knife Jean Raulnay, thirteen years old, cuts off his head which he raises towards the sky; then he gives himself up to the police. He was examined in Lyon by Doctor Alexandre Lacassagne who had him write his autobiography and acknowledged him irresponsible. On the occasion of a rereading, we intend here to return to four major themes of the historical analysis of the Bladier case: rural history; the history of education; the history of the sacrament of confession; and the symbolism of cephalophoria. |
