| Summary, etc. | Cet article examine le travail des organisations internationales entrepris depuis plusieurs décennies pour intégrer l’environnement dans les comptes des nations. Au carrefour des controverses entourant la mesure du bien-être et l’adaptation à la globalisation/régionalisation économique, les enjeux environnementaux de la soutenabilité représentent sans doute le plus complexe des défis que le Système de comptabilité nationale (SCN) se doit aujourd’hui de relever. La question se pose néanmoins de savoir si le fait de chercher à intégrer les valeurs de soutenabilité dans les comptabilités nationales peut s’accompagner d’un genre nouveau de statistiques, qui accorderait une plus grande place à la protection de la nature et à la tentative concomitante de dépasser un modèle capitaliste prédateur et inégalitaire. |

BACK TO THE « ENVIRONMENTAL TURNING POINT » OF THE SYSTEM OF NATIONAL ACCOUNTS (1980S TO THE PRESENT DAY)This article examines the work undertaken by international organisations over the past several decades to mainstream the environment into national agendas. At the crossroads of multiple controversies regarding how to measure well-being and adapt to economic globalisation/regionalisation, sustainability (and its environmental stakes) is arguably the most complex challenge faced by the United Nations System of National Accounts (SNA) today. The question nevertheless arises whether trying to mainstream the values of sustainability into national agendas should be accompanied by a new breed of statistics, which would assign a greater importance to the protection of nature and concomitant attempts to go beyond a predatory and inegalitarian capitalist model. |
