| Summary, etc. | Sous le régime fasciste,le sport et l’éducation physique ont fait l’objet d’une véritable politique que les historiens ont explorée depuis environ trente ans.Ces travaux ont permis de dévoiler les grandes fonctions des exercices physiques sous Mussolini.S’il s’agissait d’abord de placer sous contrôle les organisations sportives, notamment le Comité olympique national italien (CONI) et les grandes fédérations, en leur adjoignant des organismes tels que l’Opera Nazionale Balilla ou l’Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro,cette entreprise s’inscrivait pleinement dans le projet de forger un «homme nouveau» et visait à consolider,grâce au spectacle sportif et aux succès des azzurri, le «consensus» des années 1930.Mais la compétition et le loisir sportifs ont pu aussi se situer aux limites du contrôle totalitaire,certains secteurs du sport constituant de très relatifs espaces d’autonomie. |

| Summary, etc. | During the last thirty years historians have documented the emergence of a veritable policy for sport and physical education under the Fascist regime.Their work has improved our understanding of the main functions of physical exercise under Mussolini.While the Fascist regime aimed to monitor and control sports organisations,particularly the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and the main sport federations, by linking them to institutions such as the Opera Nazionale Balilla or the Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro,it also envisioned an Italian “new man” and used sport events and azzurrisuccesses to advance the “consensus” of the thirties.But to some extent the practice of sport,either for competition or leisure,also offered spaces of relative freedom from totalitarian control. |
