| Summary, etc. | RésuméMalgré l’importance qu’Ignace Meyerson a eue dans l’histoire de la psychologie française pendant la période de l’Entre-deux-guerres, son œuvre a été complètement oubliée par les psychologues à partir des années 1950. Pour mieux comprendre ce changement, nous nous sommes intéressée à la réaction de la psychologie expérimentale au projet d’une psychologie historique que Meyerson avait exposé dans sa thèse de 1947, Les Fonctions psychologiques et les œuvres. En examinant les archives personnelles de Meyerson concernant sa thèse, nous avons trouvé le manuscrit d’un long article écrit par Paul Guillaume en 1948 pour la Revue de métaphysique et de morale, où celui-ci formule un certain nombre de critiques. Dans quelques feuilles non identifiées situées ailleurs, nous avons reconnu le brouillon de la réponse de Meyerson. Nous analysons dans ce travail les quatre points fondamentaux de désaccord entre Guillaume et Meyerson, portant sur : l’existence de deux psychologies ; le caractère conventionnel et arbitraire des actes ; l’objectivation de l’esprit dans les œuvres ; l’application de la méthode historique à l’étude des fonctions psychologiques. Le fait que la discussion n’ait pas été publique, Guillaume ayant renoncé à publier son article, n’a fait que priver l’histoire de la psychologie d’une discussion extrêmement riche. Nous analysons cette discussion telle qu’elle se présente dans les textes manuscrits dont nous fournissons quelques extraits. |

| Summary, etc. | Ignace Meyerson was a renowned and prestigious psychologist during the period between the two world wars. Nevertheless, his work has been completely forgotten by psychologists since the fifties. In order to clarify the reasons for this change, we have focused our attention on the reaction of experimental psychology to Meyerson’s project of historical psychology – presented in his thesis Les Fonctions psychologiques et les œuvres, in 1947. In Meyerson private archives, we have found an extensive review of the thesis by Paul Guillaume where he makes a certain number of critiques. In the other hand, there were some unidentified pages which happen to be Meyerson’s response to the first text. In this paper we analyze the four main points of disagreement in this exchange : i. e., (a) the existence of two psychologies, one young and scientific and the other humanistic, (b) the conventional character of acts, (c) the objectivization of the mind in cultural productions, and (d) the application of a historical method in the study of psychological function. Since Guillaume didn’t finally publish his article, this discussion has been kept in a private sphere. In order to recover this rich intellectual discussion, we offer an analysis of this exchange and the transcription of the texts. |
