520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | After it had been blotted out of the social sciences field at the end of the 1920s’, sociology obtained a new right to exist in USSR since the end of the 1950s’, and particularly in the 1960s’. Sociology was rebuilt on the basis of the creation of some new institutes in the Academy of Sciences and in universities, but also on the ground of a net of informal relations between intellectuals who wanted to carry out investigations which results would be spread to all spheres of social life. This vitality of scientific life was not specific to sociology, even if its forms were a bit different from others. The thaw period opened after Krushchev’s speech at the xxth Party Congress contributed to give more freedom to social sciences. Nevertheless this revival of sociologists’ activity quickly made Party rulers anxious and strengthened their will to control sociological researchers. This revival had to trace out its way between Party’s control and historical materialism theoreticians’ inclination to hegemony. |
