| Summary, etc. | Cette enquête porte sur la mobilisation qui a suivi la découverte du cadavre mutilé d’un chat à Draguignan (Var), à partir notamment de groupes Facebook et d’une pétition sur Change.org. Elle éclaire les ressorts émotionnels de l’action collective, dans le contexte d’une évolution des sensibilités vis-à-vis de la cause animale et en s’intéressant aux dynamiques numériques de la mobilisation. Elle montre la circulation des affects ainsi que le travail d’enquête mené par les participants. Elle présente également les compétences développées par les entrepreneurs de cause dans la conduite et la modération des interactions en ligne, ainsi que le rôle actif joué par la plateforme Change.org. Enfin, elle met en évidence les frontières incertaines d’une action collective fondée sur une indignation morale médiée par des plateformes numériques, susceptible d’adopter des formes de dénonciation punitive. |

| Summary, etc. | This research examines the collective mobilization that occurred after a stray cat was discovered dead and mutilated in Draguignan (Var), leading to the creation of several Facebook groups, as well as a petition on Change.org. It sheds light on the emotional drivers of collective action, in the context of changing attitudes towards animal rights and with a focus on the digital dynamics of the mobilization. It shows the circulation of affects, as well as the investigative labor carried out by the participants. It also describes the skills developed by the movement’s leaders in order to lead and moderate online interactions, as well as the active role played by the Change.org platform. Finally, this article highlights the uncertain boundaries of an instance of collective action based on moral outrage mediated by online platforms, which are prone to forms of punitive denunciation. |
