| Summary, etc. | Le dépouillement de deux ans (1788-1789) de sources notariales et policières fournit les adresses et les professions de plus de 14000 Parisiens et permet une approche de la répartition socioprofessionnelle du centre de Paris à la fin de l’Ancien Régime. Cette répartition est d’abord analysée au niveau des paroisses: quelques-unes apparaissent dominées par une catégorie socioprofessionnelle, tandis que d’autres sont plus homogènes. La répartition de chacune des catégories dans l’espace urbain, étudiée ensuite, met en lumière quelques concentrations professionnelles. Les hommes de loi et les orfèvres, particulièrement bien documentés, permettent même une étude exhaustive. |

| Summary, etc. | The heart of Paris at the eve of the French Revolution. A study of social geography. The perusal of two years (1788-1789) of notary and police sources supplies with the addresses and occupations of more than 14000 Parisians and allows an approach to the socio-professional distribution in the centre of Paris at the end of the Ancien Régime. The analysis of the distribution in each parish shows that few of them are dominated by one socio-professional category, while others are more homogeneous. The distribution of each category in urban space, which is also studied, brings some professional concentrations out. Lawyers and goldsmiths, who are particularly well-documented, even allow an exhaustive study. |
