| Summary, etc. | Cet article passe en revue diverses études ayant mis l’accent, voire mis au premier plan, l’aspect spatial de l’histoire d’Israël. Ces travaux remettent en cause la compréhension et les conceptions conventionnelles de l’espace. Ils utilisent la perspective spatiale pour contester les perceptions existantes de la fondation et de la consolidation de l’État d’Israël en terre d’Israël. L’un des tournants majeurs dans l’écriture du « lieu » ( makom) israélien au cours des dernières décennies, à partir de la première Intifada, est de nature interprétative. Il a pris la forme d’un abandon et du démantèlement des arguments de causalité dominants et profondément enracinés, et de leur remplacement par d’autres. L’espace est de forme changeante, il peut prendre des dimensions physique, visible et tangible comme il peut se rattacher aux sphères fonctionnelle, politique et symbolique. L’attention grandissante accordée à l’espace se situe dans le cadre d’une critique générale grandissante de l’entreprise coloniale sioniste, de la part de chercheurs qui refusent de continuer à interpréter ce projet selon ses propres termes. Toutes les études examinées dans cet article ont en commun la remise en cause de la carte cognitive juive-israélienne qui ignore l’habitant palestinien précédent. Les études d’Israël qui adoptent une perspective spatiale nous ouvrent une nouvelle compréhension. Vue sous l’angle spatial plutôt que sous celui du discours public, l’année 1967 ne semble pas forcément constituer un tournant. Parce que l’état d’occupation qu’ont créé les événements de 1967 s’est maintenu depuis, ce moment ressemble aujourd’hui plus à une maladie chronique qu’à une crise isolée et aiguë. La perspective spatiale facilite l’analyse méthodique et expose les relations de causalité entre le conflit israélo-palestinien et les débats et les conflits internes de la société israélienne. |

| Summary, etc. | Beyond zionism. A “spatial turn” in the Israeli historiography?This article reviews a wide range of studies that have placed considerable and even preeminent emphasis on the spatial aspect of Israeli history. They challenge the conventional understanding and concepts of space. These studies use the spatial perspective in order to contest existing perceptions of the foundation and consolidation of the Israeli state in the land of Israel. One of the significant turning points in writing on the Israeli « Place » ( makom) over the past decades starting with the first Intifada, is interpretational in nature, and is expressed in the separation and dismantling of deeply-rooted and prevalent causal arguments and their replacement by others. Space takes on different forms, moving between physical, visible and tangible aspects and functional, political and symbolic spheres. The increasing attention paid to space is part of the growing general criticism of the zionist settlement endeavor by scholars who refuse to continue to interpret it on its own terms. What all the studies reviewed in this article have in common is the contemporary challenging of the Jewish-Israeli cognitive map, which is oblivious to the former Palestinian resident.A new understanding is gained by the spatial perspective of Israel studies. From the spatial perspective, as opposed to public discourse, 1967 does not necessarily appear as a turning point. With the continuation of the state of occupation created by the events of 1967, this point in time has become a chronic rather than an acute situation. The spatial perspective facilitates methodical analysis and exposes causal relationships between the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Israeli society’s internal social debates and conflicts. |
