| Summary, etc. | Pierre Mendès France et l’Italie : une grande influence méconnue ?Cet article cherche à montrer un aspect original et méconnu de l’action de Pierre Mendès France en tant qu’homme d’État. Président du Conseil au début de 1955, il a engagé la coopération économique franco-italienne sur une voie très novatrice. Un certain nombre de responsables économiques et de chefs de service ministériels seront à ce point convaincus de sa justesse qu’ils en assureront la réalisation bien après la chute du gouvernement de Pierre Mendès France en février 1955 à la fois en Italie du Sud et en Afrique francophone. Mais, à partir de 1960, la disparition de l’empire colonial français et l’insertion de plus en plus affirmée des deux pays dans un ensemble commercial communautaire multilatéral a sonné le glas d’une coopération strictement bilatérale telle qu’elle avait été esquissée en 1955. |
