| Summary, etc. | Quarante ans après la chute du chah, le bilan de la révolution islamique est pour le moins mitigé. La République islamique est en effet confrontée à une série de difficultés, à la fois internes et internationales. Son économie est en panne et le pays connaît une crise environnementale sans précédent. Sur le plan international et régional, du fait de ses choix et de son incapacité à se transformer, l’Iran demeure un État isolé. Face à un système politique figé, la société iranienne qui a connu des transformations considérables est pour le moins désabusée. En fin de compte, le régime se trouve aujourd’hui dans une impasse, dans laquelle il s’est lui-même enfermé, sans avoir les moyens d’en sortir. |

| Summary, etc. | Forty years after the fall of the Shah, the outcome of the Islamic revolution is mixed, to say the least. The Islamic Republic currently faces a series of challenges, both domestic and international. Its economy is broken, and the country is experiencing an unprecedented environmental crisis. Iran remains an isolated state, both internationally and regionally, because of choices it has made coupled with an inability to transform itself. Faced with a political system that is stuck, Iranian society (which has undergone considerable transformations) is at best disillusioned. The regime now finds it has trapped itself in a deadlock, and lacks the means to escape it. |
