520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | In geography, the practices of fallow are generally explained by the necessity of resting an “exhausted” soil. The agronomical works show that this concept covers different realities according to the ecological conditions. In the equatorial environments, it is often linked with the fear of weed plants. In tropical countries, the recovery of fertility, often by transfers, seems essential. In the fresh environment of the Andean highlands, the prevention of parasite infestations becomes paramount. In all the cases, the result is a space mobility of the agricultural appointments whose forms are here analyzed. It is a parasite-destroying way of fight that can be found in the Western countryside without fallow, but thwarted by the economic or prescribed necessities. That’s why farmers have to turn to a massive use of pesticides, prohibiting that the turnovers in space, more lasting but less easily administered, to be more systematically implemented. |
