| Summary, etc. | RésuméCet article présente l’édition d’un traité mythographique contenu dans le manuscrit composite Londres, British Library, Cotton Titus D. XX, f. 97-104v (fin xve s.). Dix-huit dieux ou héros antiques y sont décrits, avec leurs attributs qui expriment allégoriquement les vertus et les vices chrétiens. Les sources principales de l’auteur, anonyme, sont le Fulgentius metaforalis de Jean Ridewall (fl. 1330-1340), et le De formis figurisque deorum de Pierre Bersuire (†1362), dans une rédaction attribuée par erreur à Thomas Waleys (†1350). L’idée de l’auteur est de rendre les divinités antiques facilement identifiables et de justifier leur présence dans la peinture chrétienne. |

| Summary, etc. | This article presents a study and an edition of a previously unknown mythographical treatise found in the composite codex London, British Library, Cotton Titus D. XX, f. 97-104v (s. XVex). It describes eighteen ancient gods and heros with an emphasis on their physical attributes which are then linked allegorically to corresponding Christian virtues and vices. The main sources of the anonymous author are the Fulgentius metaforalis of John Ridewall (fl. 1330-1340) and the De formis figurisque deorum of Pierre Bersuire (d. 1362) or Thomas Waleys (d. 1350), to whom Bersuire’s treatise was often falsely attributed. The aim of the author is to make the ancient gods easily identifiable and to justify their presence in Christian art. |

XX, f. 97-104v (fine del XV secolo). Vi sono descritti diciotto dei ed eroi antichi con i loro attributi che esprimono in modo allegorico le virtù e i vizi cristiani. Le fonti principali dell’anonimo autore sono il Fulgentius metaforalis di Jean Ridewall (fl. 1330-1340) e il De formis figurisque deorum di Pierre Bersuire (†1362), in una redazione attribuita per errore a Thomas Waleys (†1350). Intento dell’autore è rendere le divinità antiche facilmente identificabili e giustificare la loro presenza nella pittura cristiana. |
