| Summary, etc. | The Jews of North Africa and Toulouse until 1962: from transitional space to space of settlement, by Colette ZytnickiUntil the Second World War and even until 1962, the Jewish community in Toulouse constituted a very small minority at the city level. In this kaleidoscope, the proportion of North African Jews is minimal. It is however possible to identify their presence, at first very modest, then more substantial after 1945. This article traces the stages of migration of this minority within the minority, sketches their sociology and highlights some local figures. A special place is given to students who attended Toulouse universities, an attendance that may, for some, have preceded their settlement in Toulouse. |
