Esto es particularmente cierto para el Renacimiento y la Edad Clásica en Europa: la utopía aparece como una alternativa política frente a un mundo en las garras de la ansiedad y la división. En lo que respecta a los ingleses del siglo XVII, la utopía ofrece el acceso a una nueva inteligibilidad histórica, porque nos revela cómo una cierta figura de la modernidad se inventó a sí misma a través de sus utopías e, incluso, se afirmó como una utopía. Si la utopía es, para Bacon, Hobbes y Wilkins, el signo de la inventiva del discurso filosófico, también aparece, más que nunca, como un discurso que la sociedad tiene sobre sí misma. |
