| Summary, etc. | A diferencia de las grandes figuras del pragmatismo clásico (Peirce, James, Dewey, Mead), Richard Rorty ha sido acusado a menudo de abogar por un pensamiento irracionalista y anticientífico. En este artículo, propongo matizar tal veredicto presentando las apuestas inseparablemente filosóficas y metafilosóficas del debate que Rorty inició con las principales ramas de la filosofía contemporánea de la ciencia en torno a las cuestiones del esencialismo (la ciencia como «género natural»), el realismo científico y el instrumentalismo. Además, sugiero evaluar la forma en que Rorty redefinió la actividad científica como orientada a la solidaridad y la creación poética. |
