| Summary, etc. | En la sección XII de la Investigación sobre el entendimiento humano David Hume se plantea el sentido y el absurdo del escepticismo. Distingue distintos tipos de escepticismo, y examinamos la inteligibilidad de cada uno de ellos. Puede ser semántico, pragmático o práctico. Un temprano ensayo de Hume sobre el ideal caballeresco, hasta ahora poco explorado, nos ayuda a ello. A continuación, interpretamos las dos formas de «escepticismo mitigado» analizando sus afectos característicos: la modestia intelectual y el gusto crítico. Esto nos permite responder a una de las cuestiones tratadas en el comentario: ¿es moderado el escepticismo mitigado? En definitiva, lo que está en juego en la reflexión humeana sobre el sentido del escepticismo no es dar una respuesta epistemológica al escepticismo, sino responder a él, teniendo en cuenta la experiencia de su vértigo existencial. |
