| Summary, etc. | La infección congénita por citomegalovirus es la principal causa de discapacidad intelectual e hipoacusia no genética. Se distingue entre formas sintomáticas (10 por ciento) con afectación clínica al nacer y formas asintomáticas (90 por ciento), con un posible riesgo auditivo en ambos casos. El riesgo de daño vestibular, durante mucho tiempo infradiagnosticado por falta de una evaluación sistemática, es ahora bien conocido. El tratamiento propuesto actualmente para los recién nacidos es Valganciclovir®. l diagnóstico temprano de las complicaciones asociadas permiten prestar una mejor atención a estos niños, que a veces presentan discapacidades múltiples. |
