| Summary, etc. | Michel de Boüard est un des rares universitaires résistants et déportés (au camp de Mauthausen en 1944) à avoir travaillé sur les sujets de la répression et de la déportation. Exemple de cette « histoire incarnée » qui naît dès le retour des camps, son parcours est d’autant plus intéressant à étudier qu’il faut le replacer dans le cadre historiographique original dans lequel naissent les premiers travaux sur ces thèmes, où se mêlent réflexion scientifique et « devoir de mémoire », pour une histoire du très contemporain. Il est un des pionniers de ce champ scientifique.Mais si Michel de Boüard est un exemple caractéristique des filiations croisées de cette histoire et de ses enjeux particuliers, il l’est aussi de leurs évolutions. En effet, il s’inquiète progressivement de la manière dont cette histoire s’écrit – ou plutôt ne s’écrirait pas –, pour finir par rompre toutes ses filiations et, paradoxe difficilement compréhensible, cela le conduit à soutenir le travail d’un négationniste. |

| Summary, etc. | Michel de Boüard: Questions and uncertainties of an historian of the deportationMichel de Boüard (deported to Mauthausen in 1944) is one of the few deported scholars to have studied Nazi repression and deportation. He was not only a witness but also a pioneer of the field in which scientific investigation and lived experience enriched a reflection on how «memory» is constructed in contemporary historiography.Although he is an exemplary example of the multiple filiations of this history and its evolution and paradoxes, he worried about the way in which it was written or forgotten and ended up – ultimate and difficult paradox – supporting the work of a Holocaust denier. |
